I would rather have clay on my hands than write in the blog!

I fully admit that I am terrible at blogging!  It has been a while since I have posted.  Here are some new photos.

Greenware.  I am taking a fluting class at Savannah's Clay Spot.  I have picked up many tips and have really enjoyed being around other potters in a creative atmosphere.

"Scrap bowl."  When I hand build, I take all the scraps and make them into a bowl.

Biggest honor ever to be asked to make a communion set for my church.  Donated in memory of Fred Smith.  It was about a 10 piece set.

Chickadee and bird feeder.  The chimney opens in order to put seeds in.

More later!  Hopefully not as much "later" as last time!

Six months in...easier than I thought! Whew!

Ring holder

Really need to take more photos.  Enjoying making pottery when I have a moment.  I have been playing around with carved designs inside bowls.  Also made a couple of bird feeders which I think are cute... will post when glazed.

Dog bowl for dogs that just eat too fast!  Works.

2 Months In!

Selling well!  Happy to see purchases throughout the typically slow months of Jan and Feb.  I am enjoying making pottery this month. :)

Well, I did it.  Committed to selling my pottery.  Joined up with Ellen Long at Fordham Market.  She paints and has a booth which she shares with Ed Funk, photographer.  I am flattered that she asked me to join them.  I just have a 4 tiered stand but have managed to fill it nicely.  I tried to keep things reasonably priced and attractive to the tourist.  I overheard one of the employees say, "Good, it is grab and go items."  Hmmmm.  Not sure how I feel about that, but if they buy, I guess I will be just fine with it!

Love this vase and sugar bowl!

Would you buy?

Gearing Up

Busy with making pottery for Christmas!
Items are selling well at Beaufort Art Association Christmas Market.  I will be selling at BAA and also at Fordham Market beginning in January.  Plan on staying busy between now and the first of the year!

Birdie atop sugar bowl.

Nice kiln surprise... worth the wait.
Latest firing.  Liked some, not others.  These all came out okay. Used the red gold on Ellen's Buff clay.  I thought the red gold would not shiver off this clay like it does on Brownstone.  Some pieces were great... others, such as the kiln surprise mugs had some flaking on the handles.  Plan to refire to see if I can fix them.

The funny birdhouse is not my typical work but it was fun to make and paint.  Plan to hang it outside of my house and see if it attracts a wren.
Large bowl with nice runs.  Glad I dripped the black
on it by mistake!

Desert sage and shino mugs.

Funny birdhouse.

Large hand built vase.

Different clay than norm.  Like the
results with these runny glazes.
